We are not attempting to answer all the issues concerning seed and book preservation in this post, but there's a lot to learn and who knows how much time we have left before there are no seeds or books available to the general public?!?! While we believe that the internet can be a great tool for education and communication, it should not be a replacement for books and face to face interaction. It is our opinion that losing the internet is inevitable and if you haven't read our blog post on this page titled "The Digital Tower of Babel", we highly recommend it! Not to mention the situation we face with our food supply is an utter disgrace and URGENT (along with geoengineering, etc)! Check out our blog post also on this page called "The Dumb'ing Down of Humanity" by Ian Anthony.
As XAnthos goes through our own unlearning and relearning process in attempt to reclaim and preserve the sacred knowledge and independence that's been stolen from us (which is just the tip of the iceberg); hopefully everyone can learn from what we do and be encouraged that it is NEVER too late to take back our lives!!
You can't go back to basics without going back to books. Studies show that fewer Americans are visiting libraries. According to PBS in 2015, people said they loved libraries, but aren't using them because of technology and therefore, less government & public funding. The public may say they think libraries are important, but people’s words don’t match their actions. 85% percent of Americans told pollsters that closing libraries would dramatically change their community. However, fewer than half of all survey respondents 16 & older said they had visited a library or bookmobile only ONCE in the last year. That’s down from 53 % in 2012. And today, in 2017, it is down over 65%!! At this rate it will be over 80% by 2025.
In additon to preserving relevant and valuable books, our idea is to select and collect heirloom seeds, learn how to grow them and then save the seeds each year. While we purchase our seeds primarily from rareseeds.com, we have created a Forum that will be available soon for our Seed & Book Library & EBT (Exchange, Barter & Trade) in which we will be giving our seeds away for free. Yes, that's right....FREE!! Any surplus of seeds that we have will be posted to the forum. We must note that you have to be willing to share your address so we have a place to send the seeds. This topic deserves a blog post of it's own at a later date, but no worries, FOR NOW non commercial Seed Sharing is legal and like the internet, we had better get the best we can from it before they are taken away completely and quite possibly never exist again. Regardless, the ways of the world are unsustainable and at the very least, when shit hits the fan, we won't be just doomsday preppers getting through a few months or a couple years. No, we are in it for the long hual right along side Mother Earth. What you do to her, you do to us and we've had enough.
With that said, we will be posting our very own Seed & Book Library Album on FB and this website for all to see and be inspired!
Thanks for your time!!
Stay warm and BEE Blessed Xxx <3 xxX
